Is going to be a very very long entry. :)
Erm. Alright, i shall update abt my first 3 days at work since is Friday. Heh. I reckon i can't find a second person who worked half day during the first day of work, and that's me! LoL. As seen in previous posting, i fall sick again. I was having a bad flu, i had it since Tuesday thou. Initially, i THOUGHT i would be able to tolerate until 6pm, but i was feeling so uncomfortable that i asked for half day leave at 1plus. I wasn't dare to see the HR manager then, but Janice [my peer colleague] encouraged me to consult a DR since i was really unwell. Together with her company, we went to see Wendy. She's very nice, and i was surprised when she actually reminds me to take the receipt for reimbursement. YES!! I CAN GET REIMBURSEMENT THOU IT'S ONLY MY FIRST DAY. I felt really quite shocking then, bcoz i thot my medical leave will start only after my confirmation.
Work at McGraw-Hill is fine so far, as i was still under training process. Colleagues were all approachable. Quite alot of Caucasian in the company, mostly in Biz Unit thou. Well i mean this is expected, as it is a US based MNC. But i do have a v deep impression of Peter. He's from UK, a very fun loving joker. Anyway, one sad thing is, i will have to lunch alone after Janice left. Angela [my manager] need one to stay behind to attend to calls frm Asian countries. So ya...unless i join gals frm other dept.
Did not take a lot of pictures, it's only my first 3 days. Nonetheless, i like the office. The pantry is very clean n big, well i think it is considered big. The fridge is never empty, always filled with drinks like Coke, Milo, Ribena, Milk and others soft drinks. There are biscuits as well, so we can fill up our stomach anytime when we feel famish. Not forgetting the ladies. I like it. Is very clean and always smell nice, the air refresher played a good job! Oh ya!! There are fruits for us every Mon, Wed and Fri. So nice. Just had papaya and banana today.
Job scope wise, well i still can't really share abt my job scope as im still in learning process. What i can say is, very less paper work. Is all by system. I can't describe whether it is manageable or tough. I mean i will only know after i start to handle everything myself ma. Anyhow, I reckon MGH spent millions or even more on the system, bcoz whole worldwide staffs communicate electronically [besides using phone] and check docs thru this program, LAWSON. I was given a laptop too. Actually laptop was given to me on my 1st day, i didn't bring it home as i can't access to it still. Bcoz my ID, email address and everything are all not yet created. It is only today that i get my ID and email address. Also, the office access card. Temporary one thou, for a mth period. Before that, it was all Janice who helped to let me in. Th HR dept will be preparing the permanent one with my photo printed on it and hopefully i will be able to get it this coming week.

What else i have not receive?? Oh, and the VPN ID. Without this ID, i wld not be able to access the Co. information using the laptop. Probably will get it on Monday. What else?? Oh..and my name cards not yet printed. Well, i don't really care abt that. Give to who? LoL! Anyway, my position is Assistant Accountant and not Finance Executive. Angela said, the HR dept always use Finance Executive, no idea why. So, on my name card, it will be printed as Assistant Accountant.
On the 13th, we will be having lunch together. It is a farewell treat from the management to Janice as 14th is her last day there. Also, a considered congratulate and welcome treat for Marc and myself. Congratulate Marc bcoz he is getting married.
I bought laptop home today since my ID was issued. But was facing with wireless connection problem. Sian. Not sure why it can't detect the Internet connection. Got to let my uncle check tmr, if he can't solve it either, then I'll have to inform the IT dept on Mon. After all, e laptop is Co. asset, of which there may be some setup or what, so yup...shall see if my uncle can solve it.
